Gutter Cleaning FAQ's
Most properties in Devon should have their gutters cleaned at least once a year to prevent blockages caused by moss, leaves, and debris from trees and surrounding vegetation. Properties in more exposed rural or coastal areas may benefit from cleaning twice a year to help maintain proper drainage.
Common signs include water overflowing during rainfall, moss or plants growing inside the guttering, staining or damp patches on exterior walls, and gutter sections starting to sag. You may also notice water not draining correctly through downpipes, which usually indicates a blockage.
Yes, we clean gutters on all types of properties across Devon including cottages, terraced houses, detached homes, flats, holiday lets, and commercial buildings. From coastal properties in Torbay to rural homes in the countryside, we have the equipment to safely access and clean most systems.
Yes, blocked gutters can lead to water overflowing onto walls and roofs, which may result in damp, mould, and long-term structural damage. If ignored, this can also affect fascias, soffits, and even foundations over time, leading to expensive repairs.
Gutter cleaning in Devon typically costs between £65 and £150 depending on property size, height, and accessibility. Larger homes, rural properties, or buildings with more difficult access may be priced toward the higher end.

Residential Gutter Cleaning | May 2026
Plymouth, Devon
We recently completed a gutter cleaning job on a property on Stoke Road, Plymouth, where the homeowner had reported rainwater overflowing during heavy rainfall and damp staining beginning to appear along the front exterior wall near the upstairs windows.
On inspection, the guttering was heavily blocked with moss, leaves, and roof sediment, with a partially obstructed downpipe preventing proper drainage and causing water to back up along the front elevation during periods of heavy rain. The exposed location also meant wind-blown debris had contributed to faster build-up than usual.
We carried out a full clearance of the gutter system, removed all debris by hand, and flushed the downpipe to restore full water flow. A full system test was then completed to ensure everything was draining correctly. The guttering was left fully clear and operational, with improved drainage restored and the risk of future overflow and damp issues significantly reduced.
